New Site Content, Page Updates and Upcoming Imagery

You may not have noticed it but for a while now there have been a couple of links on the top-right of the page, under the tools menu. These aren’t very fancy, nor were they ever meant to be. It has primarily been a place to host my development work publicly so I can, you know, use the stuff.

I have put some time into updating the site today. Now the Tools page actually works, showcases the few things I’ve got online so far, and will be a tad more useful in discovering what I’m hosting here. The tools themselves haven’t changed in a little while, and for what it’s worth they are meant mostly for testing and development of various web-based data visualization techniques. But I do plan on improving these and adding more over time.

I have also added a new section on the page for Imagery. These image sets are data visualizations I make, again mostly for my own purposes, and I want to share them here. Rather than interactive tools these are just static images, though there may be interactive features that make interrogating this imagery easier.

I haven’t added any imagery yet, but GOES-East Differential Water Vapor is coming soon! This is a product I am excited to get online. You can read more about the product itself here. Surprisingly there aren’t many places that visualize this GOES RGB product, well now there is! It will only be for the CONUS but in testing I’ve found it to be not only operationally useful but also a fascinating product to view. I’m hoping to get the imagery online in the coming days and there will be a new page post describing the product and applications in more detail. In the meantime here’s a little teaser…
